This Fourth Edition of McQuarrie's classic text offers a thorough revision and a quantum-leap forward from the previous edition. Taking an "atoms first" approach, it promises to be another ground-breaking text in the tradition of McQuarrie's many previous works. An entirely new chapter on chemical analysis is included, which includes the separation of mixtures and an introduction to various spectroscopic techniques. Other new enhancements include a new interchapter on energy, "beyond the basics" sections for more rigorous courses, and many new end-of-chapter problems including new conceptual problems at the beginning of each problem set, and new integrative challenge problems at the end of each set. Examples and practice problems appear throughout this outstanding new text, which has now been revised to incorporate SI units and IUPAC conventions throughout.
